NearEU Master Class with MEP – Sven Mikser
On December 3rd, the NearEU Jean Monnet Module hosted its seventh Master Class, entitled “EU Security and Defence: Current Challenges and Future Scenarios”, which was delivered by the Estonian Member of European Parliament – Sven Mikser (S&D).
Sven Mikser is an Estonian social-democratic politician and member of the European Parliament. Between 2002-2003 and 2014-2015, he served as Estonia’s minister of defence. In November 2016 he assumed the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs in the cabinet of Jüri Ratas. Mikser was elected as a Member of the European Parliament in 2019. He has since been serving on the Committee on Foreign Affairs and its Subcommittee on Security and Defence. In addition to his committee assignments, he is part of the Parliament’s delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly and to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
